Collimator Accessories

Some people who like to look at the stars are amazed by new eyepieces or refractors, but for most people, the real magic starts with a collimator. Laser collimators, Cheshires, and autocollimators are accurate tools that keep things lined up and make sure that the mirrors in Newtonians, SCTs, and Dobsonians are perfectly lined up. Why does this matter? Even the most high-tech Plossl, Morpheus, or apochromatic eyepieces will not work as well if the lenses are not lined up right. A planet's traits might not be easy to see, nebulae might lose their contrast, and long-exposure shots might not work due to improper alignment changes. Collimator tools make the most of every photon that comes into your telescope behind the scenes. The outcome means very clear pictures for astrophotographers and the pleasure of seeing Saturn's rings and Jupiter's cloud bands in all their glory. Collimation is more than maintenance; it connects your telescope to the universe, making every look through it a clearer, more amazing discovery through the stars.

Baader Hyperion 8-24 Clickstop Zoom Eyepiece and 2.25X Hyperion Zoom Barlow Kit
The new Hyperion Zoom Mark IV Eyepiece is 55 mm in diameter, which is smaller than the old one, and it weighs 10.2 ounces less. Because of these changes, the Mark IV is now a great choice for scientists and people who like to use binoculars on the go. Instead of barrel undercuts, the Mark IV has special Zero-Tilt safety kerfs that make it less likely for an eyepiece to slip out of an eyepiece clamp that is not locked. The performance in cold weather has also been improved with better zoom rails. The click-stop system is now even smoother than before, making it easier to use and making less noise. The Mark IV also has an extra 4mm of back focus, which can be increased even more with the A adapter. This eyepiece can be used with spotting scopes that would not be able to focus with any other eyepiece!

Tele Vue 31 mm Nagler Type 5 Eyepiece
The Andromeda Galaxy and other big things in space can be seen better with this. Users can see the stars even better with these Tele Vue Nagler eyepieces because they are well-made and look great. The metal base of the Tele Vue Nagler eyepieces is strong and anodized, which makes them last a long time and be good for optics. The field of view is bigger than most 1.25" eyepieces, at 42 mm, and it is 2" in size, so it is great for looking into deep space. With the anti-reflection threads and dark lens edges, the contrast is higher, and the rubber eye guards make watching more comfortable. Because their real field area is 41% bigger than the Type 4, the small Type 5 models work best with Dobsonian telescopes.

Celestron 2.5X Luminos 2" Barlow Lens
This Celestron 2.5X Luminos 2" Barlow Lens gives a 2.5x magnification boost without any unwanted optical effects. Its four-element design makes sure that it shows true colors and great contrast across a flat field. It is made of hard-anodized metal and has a big rubber grip to make it last and be easy to use, even when gloves are on. It works with most eyepieces because it has a 1.25" to 2" adapter and a threaded 2" filter. This gives users more viewing options. It is built to last, and the brass compression rings keep the eyepieces from breaking.

Sharpstar 1.25" Collimating Eyepeice
This SharpStar 1.25 Collimating Eyepiece is ideal for accurately aligning Cassegrain and Newtonian telescopes. The sturdy, all-metal construction ensures a perfect fit with standard 1.25 focusers. Even under artificial light or in broad daylight, astrophotographers can easily make precise collimation adjustments with this instrument

Hotech Laser Collimator for 8" SCT w/HyperStar Lens
A tiny yet high-quality piece of gear, the Hotech Laser Collimator for 8" SCT w/HyperStar Lens makes photographing the night sky a breeze. Shorter exposure periods are made possible by transforming a Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope into an image instrument with a high-speed f/2 aperture. The many practical components included in the set are a fine-tuning stage, a CR123 battery, an advanced CT laser collimator, an 8" HyperStar Reflector Mirror Adapter, and a sleek carrying case

More About This Category

If you are the proud owner of a high-quality Howie Glatter 2” single beam laser collimator but would like to collimate your primary mirror from the back of your Newtonian telescope without having to continually walk around to make sure that your adjustments are correctly made, then you need a Howie Glatter TuBLUG Newtonian Collimator - 2"! A matte-white 45 degree face and anti-reflection coated Barlow lens is mounted within its central axial hole. Once properly rotated so that the face of the cut-out is oriented towards you, the Howie Glatter TuBLUG is easily visible from the back of the scope!

For achieving the best views of the moon and planets with any telescope, we recommend that you do the final collimation procedure on a star, regardless of which collimation accessories that you choose. This will assure the sharpest images possible and allow you to discern details that would otherwise be invisible! We sell a full supply of Bob’s Knobs to make this task easier.
