Apochromatic Optics
Featuring a focal length of 150 mm, this ZWO 30 mm F5 guidescope pairs well with telescopes up to 750 mm in focal length for guiding purposes. The triplet, apochromatic design with ED glass presents tack-sharp stars without any color fringing for higher guiding accuracy, while the wide 30 mm aperture is wonderful for resolving bright details of the night sky. Additionally, this premium optical design is highly beneficial if you’d like to capture crisp, widefield images of the cosmos, or if you’d like to tack on an eyepiece for quick views or utilize it as a finderscope.
Versatile Camera Connection
Like its predecessor, there are two convenient options for mounting your camera. If your camera is equipped with a 1.25” nosepiece, simply insert your nosepiece into the back of this guidescope and lock it in place with the included thumb screws. The rigid design keeps your camera steady all night long. This 30 mm F5 guidescope also houses M42x0.75 threads on the back, enabling a direct, threaded connection to your planetary camera. It’s compatible with all ZWO ASI cameras, and if you’d like to mount your DSLR, you can do so with a user-supplied T-ring.
Precise Focusing
After you have attached your camera, focusing this guidescope is a breeze with the helical focuser and integrated locking screw, helping hone in on your guide stars. First, unlock the focus locking thumb-screw, then rotate the focuser counterclockwise or clockwise until the stars become sharp and in focus. Once ideal focus is achieved, retighten the thumb-screws to lock your focus in place! The textured surface of the helical focuser makes it easy to grip, and the solid structure ensures your focus position remains steady throughout your night of imaging.
