Though the Ritchey-Chretien design is inherently better suited to environmental factors like stray light and dew than telescopes featuring a prominent glass element, they are not immune. That is where the Apertura 6" RC Dew Shield comes in, providing premium passive dew protection and extended off-axis light shielding! With an ABS backing and flocking lining, this shield helps capture and insulate a warm pocket of air ahead of the OTA to give your system the boost it needs to passively defeat dew or work in tandem with an active dew prevention solution to efficiently ward off especially challenging environments. This extension also stops more off-axis light from entering your tube in the first place, while the flocking helps stop any light that does enter in its tracks. Installing this guard is as simple as lining up the dovetail cutouts, and securing the ends together with the strong hook and loop strip. This provides a snug grip thanks to the thick foam pad along the lip of the shield, which keeps even pressure and protects your telescope finish. This premium protector is manufactured right here in the USA, and is an excellent addition to your astrophotography system!

Rugged ABS Construction
Ensuring heat insulation and
stray light shielding for years to come is the ABS backbone. This gives the
Apertura 6" RC Dew Shield flexibility, allowing it to better fit a wider
array of travel kit, solutions including flat packing, when compared to a
hard dew shield. While flexible, this backing is also rugged, providing a
solid cone shape to the shield when deployed and a durable core that will
hold up to years of use.
Environmental Shield
Fend off moisture and stray light
with this simple, yet effective solution! With the thermally insulating ABS
backing paired with a flocking liner, this shield provides your scope with a
pocket of warm air protection. This pocket buffers the optical surfaces from
the outside air, keeping dew at bay in milder conditions. For more
challenging environments this prolongs dew formation, extending the time
between manual dew removal with warm air or making active solutions like dew
strips work more efficiently. In addition to helping insulate your optical
system, the ABS-flocking combo both helps block off-axis light from entering
and stopping light that does enter from reflecting off the shield into your
images.

been designed with precise cutouts and a thick foam strip for a secure fit

Apertura CarbonStar 6" Ritchey-Chretien Telescope ! With the hook and loop closure wrapping the shield tight, the foam strip
ensures a tight grip on the scope without marring the finish. Dual V-style
dovetail bar cutouts accommodate the radius blocks for a secure light &
cold air seal. While this shield is designed to be the perfect companion for
Apertura's premium 6" RC telescope, the hook and loop strip provides a range
of flexibility for attaching the shield to other 6" RC telescopes for
compatibility with other popular models.
