Premium Carbon Fiber Construction
This Apertura Heavy Duty tripod lives up to its name, providing high tensile strength for hefty payloads! This substantial 100+ lb. payload capacity can be attributed to its robust 50 mm diameter legs constructed of carbon fiber, a material of tremendous strength. Carbon fiber is composed of tightly packed carbon atoms that offer 5x the strength of steel of the same weight, meaning far less material is required to achieve the same vigor. This is evident in the incredibly low weight of 5.5 lbs., making it the perfect tripod for astroimagers on the go. Furthering stability, the CNC machined aluminum spreader bar ensures the tripod legs stay in a uniform, wide angle position for an even distribution of weight.
Adjustable in Design
Built to conform to your needs, the legs of this tripod extend for a height range of 17.75" to 29.75" and tip to tip distance between 22" and 32.5". Simply loosen the lock knobs, lengthen the legs to your desired height, then retighten the knobs to secure them in place. These knurled CNC machined aluminum lock knobs are built tough to ensure the utmost durability, and adjusting the tension helps you make precise refinements. Additionally, these lock knobs are large and easy to grip making them perfect for bigger hands. At the bottom of the tripod legs you’ll find long travel spike leveling feet to assist with anchoring your gear to the ground. Built-in anti-rotation mechanisms within the legs themselves keep these feet properly oriented during leg extension to help streamline your setup process.
Rugged Spiked Feet
At the bottom of the tripod legs, you’ll find a set of robust spiked feet to help anchor your setup to the ground. Additionally, these feet are adjustable to help you make fine tweaks during leveling. Instead of going through the hassle of lifting and adjusting each leg, you can find the perfect level without breaking a sweat! Simply unlock the large circular locking knobs of the feet by twisting them clockwise, twist the “screw-like” adjustment knobs until leveling is found, then retighten the locking knob counterclockwise to hold everything in place. This is particularly useful when heavy equipment is loaded atop your tripod.
Low Positioned Spreader Bar for Enhanced Stability

Two adapter plates come standard within the package. The first adapter plate supports the traditional ⅜” center stud, while the second adapter plate supports both the ⅜” center stud and the three piece M6 strainwave mounting pattern, as seen on the bottom of the ZWO AM3N & AM5N (not included). A removable ⅜” center stud and a set of mounting bolts come included within this package to help you secure your mount right out of the box!
