With a versatile 1120 mm focal length, large refractor aperture, and host of excellent supporting components, the Askar 160APO Triplet Air-Spaced Refractor makes an excellent optical base for your astronomy setup! Its 160 mm f/7 optics can bring a wide range of objects to your eyepiece in incredible detail, from the Moon, to the Pleiades, to the Whirlpool Galaxy. With a retractable, 4.5", rear tube section, you can bring these stunning stellar objects to your eyepiece or collapse this section for a binoviewer — or just to make transport and storage a bit simpler! Attached to this collapsible rear tube is a focuser to match this telescope's impressive aperture; a 3.5" rack and pinion dual-speed, electronic focuser ready, focuser equipped with two finder shoes and a 360° rotator. 160 mm Air-Spaced Triplet Optics
Powering this premium
refractor are three large air-spaced elements that give you a sharp and
well-color corrected portal into the skies above! Sitting behind its front
160 mm objective lens is an ED element that helps the triplet design tame
chromatic aberration even further and placing this firmly in the
apochromatic category. With an f/7 focal ratio, this telescope reaches 1120
mm in focal length. Pairing this with 2" or 1.25" eyepieces will bring you
stellar views of larger objects like the Andromeda Galaxy and Orion Nebula,
to medium and smaller sized targets like the Dumbbell Nebula, Pinwheel
Galaxy, and Hercules Globular Cluster; all with common high, medium, and low
magnification visual gear. With this, the Askar 160APO Triplet Air-Spaced is

Collapsable Rear Section
To assist in storing and
transporting the Askar 160APO, this telescope features a retractable tube
segment! With a twist of the locking ring you can extend the focuser
outwards an additional 4.5", putting it in the perfect position for your
visual or imaging equipment and locking it in place with the same simple
ring mechanism. This system features clear printing ahead of the ring
indicating the lock/unlock directions, as well as silver knobs for
"rudder-style" operation that makes loosening and securely tightening the
large ring a breeze. This system allows the Askar 160APO to collapse down to
34.8" for easier handling and storage; but can also provide valuable
in-travel for those interested in using accessories such as binoviewers
which can sometimes be challenging with standard focuser ranges.
Large 3.5" Focuser
The perfect pairing for this
telescope's expansive aperture, the Askar 160APO features a large 3.5"
focuser! Powered by a rack and pinion mechanism, this focuser is smooth and
secure, capable of moving stout equipment trains without
issue. This is wide aperture focuser additionally features two finder shoes
right out of the box, capable of carrying a finder/guide scope along with an
unmagnified finder or popular WiFi Camera Control systems like the
ZWO ASIAIR Plus (finders, guidescopes, and
ASIAIR sold separately). With dual-speed knobs, focusing on the night sky by
hand is a breeze; but for those looking for a more hands-off approach this
focuser is EAF-ready out of the box! Askar has additionally added a 360°
rotator to the focuser with indexing printing and a large textured locking
thumbscrew to allow you to precisely angle your equipment and easily lock
even heavy gear at the perfect angle.

D-series dovetail bar, and a 12.4" top handle. In addition to giving you a
solid grip point for moving the telescope, this handle also functions as a
Synta-style mounting slot; giving you plenty of room to securely mount
additional accessories in a sleek and convenient way. Finally, to keep the
scope protected in transit or when not in use, Askar has included an
aluminum case!
