Askar N160 Newtonian Reflector Telescope
The Askar N160 Newtonian Reflector Designed for Astrophotography
In search of a powerful, fast scope for capturing sharp, highly detailed images of the night sky? Introducing the N160 Newtonian Reflector from Askar, a 6” f/3.4 astrophotography powerhouse! This light bucket collects an abundance of photons from the cosmos in a short amount of time for beautifully bright images. Complete with a dedicated coma corrector, mounting essentials, and constructed with strong, lightweight carbon fiber, Askar has you set up for a next-level astrophotography experience.
Weighing a mere 8.2 lbs, this carbon fiber Newtonian rides effortlessly on today’s most popular mounts and makes setup a breeze. This material is also highly effective at resisting temperature changes, helping your scope quickly acclimate to its surroundings for reliable performance night after night. The added coma corrector ensures sharpness from edge to edge of the frame and threads directly into the focuser for a secure fit. Within the box you’ll also find tube rings, a dovetail plate, a multifunctional handle, and a handy M58 to M48 adapter for seamless camera attachment. Wherever your astro-adventures take you, with this Askar N160 at your side, you’re set up for outstanding images of our universe!
Outstanding Astrophotography Performance
As an astrograph, this Askar N160 is designed specifically for exceptional astrophotography performance. The large 160 mm (6.3”) aperture soaks in cosmic light for beautiful detail resolution, while the 544 mm focal length (with the included coma corrector installed) provides a nice field of view for a host of deep sky objects. Suitable for sensors up to APS-C in size, the Askar N160 Newtonian fully illuminates this highly popular sensor format ensuring impressive detail from corner to corner. The included coma corrector’s 0.95x reduction factor turns this scope into an ultra-fast f/3.4 imaging powerhouse, helping you soak your sensor with photons in no time!
Optimized Optics at the Ready
This Askar Newtonian Relflector is a must have for those eager to capture bright astrophotos with exceptional speed. Whether you plan to collect stunning data on the Orion Nebula, wishing to image the Andromeda Glalaxy 2.5 billion light years away, or excited to capture the Eagle Nebula and the Pillars of Creation, this Askar N160 is the scope for you! Read on as we take a deeper dive into the incredible aspects of this astrograph below.
Top-Tier Optical Construction
Ensuring peak optical performance, the aspherical primary mirror of this Askar N160 Newtonian astrograph eliminates spherical aberration for sharp, pinpoint stars. Three sets of height adjustment knobs on the rear of this telescope allow fine-tuning of the primary mirror for precise collimation. Three locking knobs keep your collimation securely in place. The secondary mirror is housed in a robust, yet lightweight, hollowed-out CNC-machined bracket, delivering both rigidity and keeping the weight of the scope to a minimum. Three tilt adjustment screws can be found on the bracket basefine angle calibration of the secondary mirror. Both mirrors are constructed of borosilicate glass, a substrate with an extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion and incredible stability. For maximum light collection, the secondary mirror’s minor and major axes of 61 mm and 86 mm, respectively, ensure ample illumination for APS-C sensors, while both mirrors are coated with enhanced aluminum to ensure peak reflectivity.
Cutting-Edge Carbon Fiber Design
The body of this Askar N160 Newtonian Reflector is engineered with carbon fiber, a high-strength, lightweight material with an extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion. This resistance to temperature change is incredibly important for scopes of the Newtonian optical design, as it helps keep the air inside the tube consistent with the surrounding temperature for peak image sharpness. Eager to travel with your scope? The OTA itself weighs just 8.2 lbs. (3.75 kg) courtesy of this lightweight material, making it a breeze to take to dark skies!
Dual-Speed Rack & Pinion Focuser
Helping you hone in on the details, the onboard Rack-and-Pinion focuser ensures smooth, precise focusing on the stars. This dual-speed focuser houses a large, coarse adjustment knob for rough focusing, while the smaller, more precise knob brings your image into sharp, highly detailed focus. This focuser can be rotated entirely to prevent interference when attaching accessories, and is electronic focuser compatible as well! This focuser boasts a 25 mm focus travel. Please note: The base of this focuser is locked in the factory with six rotation locking screws. These screws must be loosened prior to focuser rotation to prevent mechanical damage to your scope.
Included 0.95 Coma Corrector
Included within this package is a triplet air-spaced 0.95x coma corrector for outstanding sharpness right out of the box! Pinpoint stars from edge to edge of the frame are yours for the taking. Also, this coma corrector not only eliminates comatic aberration, it also slightly reduces the focal length of your scope from 576 mm to 544 mm. As such, the native f/3.5 focal ratio is lowered to f/3.4! This essential accessory threads directly into your scope’s focuser for a solid, secure fit.
What's in the Box?
In addition to the 0.95x coma corrector, within the box you’ll also find a number of included accessories to get you set up under the stars in no time. The included tube rings hold your scope snug during your imaging sessions, with the hand-tightening locking screws enabling quick installation or removal without the need for additional tools. On top of these tube rings you’ll find a convenient handle that doubles as a finder base for user-supplied accessories such as a guidescope, a Wi-Fi camera controller, and plenty more. For additional accessory mounting, a pre-installed finder base can be found on the side of the optical tube. Finally, the 230 mm Vixen-style dovetail plate ensures seamless adjoining with today’s most popular equatorial mounts.
