This Type 3 Original White Balance (OWB) Filter from Astronomik (8h11gr) in an EOS R XL format is compatible with Canon EOS R and RP full frame mirrorless cameras. It is designed with regards to the highest technical standards to provide maximum optical performance for deep sky imaging using Canon EOS R XL series cameras. The Astronomik OWB Type 3 filters recover the Canon EOS DSLR camera's proficiency similar to the original standard equipment filter for terrestrial photography for cameras that are either missing their IR filter entirely, or have had their IR filter modified in some way.

The OWB CCC filter coatings fully insulate this filter from the damaging effects of scratching, aging, and humidity. and the filter is diffraction limited. Therefore, it will not compromise the optical performance of your telescope.

Designed for mirrorless full frame Canon EOS R and RP cameras for use in both metropolitan and suburban viewing areas, Astronomik EOS R XL clip filters offer quick and easy no-tool installation, and come with a small hook to help with filter removal. This filter does not require any housing modifications to enable use.

Mounting your Astronomik EOS R XL clip filter can be accomplished using only your fingers. Simply slide into place until flush, reinstall the camera lens, and you are set. The included filter removal tool is only needed in the beginning to get it out far enough to grasp. Once this happens, you can use your fingers to completely withdraw the filter and put it back in its storage case.

Not typically designed for astronomical use, the purpose of the Astronomik OWB (Original White Balance) filter is for converting DSLR cameras without a built-in IR filter, either through modification or by having it completely removed, to be used for traditional terrestrial photography. Converted DSLR cameras have a white balance that makes them impractical for terrestrial applications. With this OWB filter, the DSLR's spectral sensitivy will be returned to its initial range.

Shifting the entire spectrum of converted Digital SLR cameras in such a manner as to make them not applicable for astrophotography exclusively completely removes the choice of whether to restrict a DSLR for the purpose of using it for astronomical tasks only, or to simply accept the reduced sensitivity at the red end of the spectrum.

Multi-layer coatings make this filter completely resistant to the potentially damaging effects of scratching, aging and high humidity. Diffraction limited, your telescope's optical performance will not be compromised by using this filter.
