Baader Maxbright II Binoviewer w/ 2" Nosepiece and 2.6X Glasspath Corrector

Baader Planetarium's MaxBright II has many superior features such as containimg large 27 mm prisms housed in Baader's own die casting moulds, using Carl Zeiss production drawings. For a better grip, even with heavy eyepieces attached, this binoviewer features a non-slip leather exterior finish. The self-centering Clicklick clamps comes with diopter adjustment on the eyepiece side. Recognizing the difference between clamping and diopter compensation is easy, even in the dark, due to this binoviewer's ergonomical design. A stainless steel interior enables maximum stability. These high quality eyepiece clamps are only the final component of a precisely collimated optical system made for the highest magnifications. This is the only way to achieve the almost three-dimensional image and relaxed observation expected from a binoviewer.

All of the MaxBright II's optical surfaces feature 7-layer multi-coating. On the telescope side, the clear aperture is 26 mm, while on the eyepiece side, the clear aperture is 25.5 mm. Binoviewer models with smaller prisms limit the amount of sky you can view given the same magnification.

On the telescope side, either a T-2 cap nut or a dovetail ring with original Zeiss micro bayonet are available. Both of these connection options are included in the scope of delivery and allow a very compact adaptation to all common threads as well as Baader's T-2 prisms and mirrors. Comparted to fixed nosepieces, this effectively saves a great amount of backfocus. The MaxBright® II is compatible with all Baader Glasspathcorrectors. According to optical calculations by Carl Zeiss, these correction lens systems shift the focus outwards so that you can still reach focus despite the approximately 11 cm back focus (the required inward travel of the focuser) of the binoviewer. They also compensate for the color error that would otherwise be introduced through the prisms when using telescopes between f/4 and f/7. Glasspathcorrectors are not simple Barlow lenses, even if they resemble them. For this reason, in Germany the name Glaswegkorrektor® is a protected trademark by Baader Planetarium.

This Baader Maxbright II Binoviewer is an excellent way to use both eyes to explore the night sky! Included in this Maxbright II viewer set comes with several accessories, including an ABS carry case, 2.6X Glasspath Corrector, 2" / T2 Nosepiece, and a Zeiss Micro-Bayonet Mounting Adapter.

About the 2"/T2 Nosepiece

Using the 2"/T2 nosepiece allows you to connect a variety of different accessories and eyepieces that fit into 2" drawtubes. The nosepiece comes complete with both M43 threads and T2 threads. The T2 threads mean that you can attach a DSLR or imager for afocal or ocular projection photography with the binoviewer.

About the 2.6x Glasspath Corrector

Baader's 2.6x Glasspath corrector serves three purposes. First, it corrects for chromatic and spherical aberrations as well as fringing. These occur most when the added length of the binoviewer is connected to a refractor. The corrector also acts as an extender and extends the telescope's focal point for tack-sharp views and compensates for lower backfocus. The third purpose is to add 2.6x magnification to the optical path. This means observers can use eyepieces with longer focal lengths, which often have longer eye relief, making viewing more comfortable.
