Baader's MaxBright II comes in many different sets. This Baader Maxbright II Binoviewer set, including an ABS carry case, 1.7X Glasspath Corrector, 1.25" / T2 Nosepiece, and a Zeiss Micro-Bayonet Mounting Adapter, is an excellent way to increase your observing comfort by using both eyes to explore the night sky.
Baader's Maxbright II Binoviewer uses Carl Zeiss production drawings to create die casting mould that houses 27mm large prisms. The leather finish is non-slip for extra grip. The inside of the body is made of stainless steel for maximum stability. The eyepiece side is designed with a self-centering 1.25" Clicklock eyepiece holder with diopter adjustment. Not only does this holder design not mar or mark your eyepiece, but it eliminates wobble and off-axis tilt. This design also allows you to feel the difference between clamping and diopter adjustment, a wonderful feature when you are using the binoviewer at your favorite dark site! The eyepiece clamps are high quality and provide stability to the precisely collimated optical system. The optical structures of the Maxbright II have a 7-layer multi-coating.
On the telescope side of the Maxbright II there is a Zeiss Micro-Bayonet Mounting Adapter included and a T-2 cap nut. The 1.25" / T2 nosepiece saves a lot of backfocus. To mount the binoviewer to the telescope, there are standard M42 T-threads, making it compatible with SCT visual back adapters, spacers, 1.25"/2" nosepieces, and the Baader Astro T-2 modular accessory system. The clear aperture on the telescope side is 26mm and the eyepiece side has a clear aperture of 25.5mm.
Using the 1.25"/T2 nosepiece allows you to connect a variety of different accessories and eyepieces that fit into 1.25" drawtubes. The nosepiece comes complete with both M43 threads and T2 threads. The T2 threads mean that you can attach a DSLR or imager for afocal or ocular projection photography with the binoviewer.
The Baader Glasspath Corrector 1:1.7 serves a several different purposes, magnifying and extending the focal length of the telescope while correcting color error caused by the long light-path through the binoviewer glass prisms. Through the binoviewer glass prisms, the Glasspath corrects for the color errors caused by the long light path The focal plane of the telescope can be extended sufficiently to accommodate the length of the binoviewer by using a Baader compensator. In addition to extending the focal length and correcting the color error, the Baader compensator is able to provide additional magnification ahead of the binoviewer. A Baader Corrector 1:1.7 enables the use of longer focal length eyepieces to achieve high magnifications.
The carrying case is a ABS plastic case with a foam padding on the inside. With the durable outside and foam inside, you can be rest assured that your binoviewer will be protected during times of storage and transport.
