This Celestron DewHeater Controller works smarter, not harder when it comes to preventing dew accumulation. Using the Celestron DewHeater 4x allows you to prolong your battery life by optimizing power usage for up to four dew heaters at one time. When in use, the dew controller gathers and analyzes real-time information in order to warm your optics just enough to prevent dew from forming. Included Ports

Included with the 4x DewHeater Controller are four ports that can control four dew heaters at once, so you can have your OTA, guide scope, eyepiece, or other accessories involved in active dew prevention all at once.

The DewHeater controller also works as a complete power management solution for your setup. The controller body comes with four 12V DC output ports for a variety of different devices, and one of the ports comes with variable voltage so you can adjust from 3V to 12V as needed. This variable voltage port is great for accessories that use less than 12V DC like a DSLR camera. Once accessories are connected to the ports, you can manage each accessory separately with a hand controller or CPWI software (not included). The resettable electronic fuses protect your connected devices if the current draw becomes too high. Please Note : If you are using several dew heaters in heavy dew conditions and powering external devices, one Powertank Lithium Pro or PowerTank 12Ah will not be enough to run your setup all night. You will need a larger capacity battery or multiple batteries.

For the communication interface, the Celestron DewHeater 4x Controller also comes with three Type A USB ports. There is an integrated USB3.2 hub that allows the connection of three USB devices to your computer with only one cable. This significantly simplifies cable management. You can use the CPWI or Celestron hand control to power each USB port on or off.

The Controls on Your Controller

The body of the DewHeater controller has a powerful microprocessor at its heart. This microprocessor gathers information from the sensors, computes the data, and automatically adjusts the dew heaters. The DewHeater controller works by monitoring the ambient temperature and humidity with the integrated environmental sensor and monitors the heaters' temperatures using the thermistor.

This DewHeater controller works as a standalone accessory. You can also connect it to a telescope's Celestron hand controller or PC if you want to make manual adjustments and view data. It is compatible with the NexStar+ or StarSense hand controls that are running the latest firmware or Celestron CPWI telescope control software. This software is included with every Celestron mount.

Body of the DewHeater and Power Controller

The body of the Celestron DewHeater and Power Controller is made of a heavy-duty metal that houses a cooling fan and electronics.

On top of the controller, there is a bridge that has the status LEDs and environmental sensors. These sensors are placed away from the control box and other components that generate heat so the readings are as accurate as possible without needing additional cables. Because of this, this bridge also helps with cable management.

LED lights on the bridge indicate the device's status. They can provide warnings if the controller is drawing more current than your power source can supply or if the battery needs recharging. You can dim these LED lights when under dark skies.

Celestron has designed the controller body so that it can be mounted on a CGE or CG-5 dovetail with integrated dovetail clamps. There is also an included tripod strap that allows you to mount the controller to a tripod leg if that is preferred.

Compatibility

This Smart DewHeater controller works with the Celestron DewHeater Rings (which include a built-in thermistor for temperature readings of the corrector lens). You can also use this controller with third-party dew heater bands or straps. When using these, it is advised that you use the Celestron Thermistor as well (sold separately).

This 4x Celestron Smart DewHeater and Power Controller runs on a 12V DC battery. It can handle a maximum power of 240W (20A max current @ 12V DC).
