Safety is Key!
Understanding the importance of keeping your equipment safe, Pegasus Astro has assembled this NYX-88 with numerous safety mechanisms to help bring you peace of mind during your nights of observing. On the RA axis, safety limit encoders help prevent accidental collisions with the tripod as well as the possibility of internal cable snags. How does it work? Once a certain limit is reached, tracking and slewing are halted—in-turn protecting your equipment. Also, the RA axis features a power-off brake to keep your gear from toppling over during instances of sudden power loss. In the case of accidental reversed voltage or battery polarity, Pegasus Astro has you covered! The reverse voltage polarity safety feature aids in preserving the integrity of the mount’s internal electronics, helping to bolster the longevity of this NYX-88.

31 lb. (14 kg) Payload, Strain Wave Gear Technology
While only weighing 11 lbs. (5 kg) itself, this small, yet mighty, NYX-88 can carry equipment up to 30.9 lbs. (14 kg). Wanting to bump up the max payload capacity? Not a problem! The addition of a user supplied M12 threaded counterweight shaft and counterweights increases the payload capacity from ~31 lbs. to 44 lbs. The high torque internal motors and backlash-free strainwave gearing technology in both axes are to thank for this outstanding weight-to-payload ratio. To enhance performance even further, the NYX-88 mount features a combined stepper motor and belt drive. This results in an incredible 0.15 arcseconds of resolution for remarkably smooth tracking and minimal periodic error. The subarcsecond precision is ideal for astrophotography applications, delivering sharp stars and crisp detail within the captured frames. Not only is this Pegasus Astro NYX-88 perfect for astroimaging, but take advantage of its high performance for visual astronomy as well. As a dual EQ/Alt-AZ mount, easily toggle from equatorial tracking to altazimuth tracking for stunning views of your favorite celestial objects.
