QHY QHY533M Camera Kit with Small Color Filter Wheel
About the QHY QHY533M Camera

This new generation cooled, monochrome camera from QHYCCD is full of great features, allowing for superb astrophotography. The monochrome model of the 533 uses a threaded interface to connect to the QHY small filter wheel, and also supports Nikon and Canon lens adapters to achieve infinity focus.
Sony IMX355M Sensor
The QHY533M is a back-illuminated CMOS camera, sporting the Sony IMX533M sensor. This allows for zero amplifier glow with low noise and high sensitivity. At 9 megapixels, the 11.29 mm square sensor provides 3003 x 3003 pixels at 3.76um.
Back-Illuminated CMOS
Illuminating camera sensors from the front can reduce efficiency, as the illumination structure can inadvertently deflect photons. Illuminating the sensor from the rear allows for the photosensitive surface to absorb the maximum possible photons. This increases the performance and efficiency (QE) of the camera, as well as increases its full well capacity.
Other Features
The QHY 533 monochrome features zero amplifier glow, regardless of exposure length. The image buffer is large and fast, with 1 gigabyte of DDR3 memory. This produces 27 frames per second in 8-bit mode and 18 frames in 16-bit mode. In addition, this camera can output in true RAW mode from the original signal only, without any noise reduction or hot pixel removal. This provides the highest quality image for post-production in image processing software.
Environmental features of this camera include dual-stage TE cooling and a proprietary QHY technology allowing for the lowest possible dark current (less than 1/1000th of an electron at -20C). Anti-dew and anti-frost protection has been integrated into the camera body, with built-in dew heaters at the optical window, a humidity- and condensation-protected chamber, and an electric heating board for the chamber window.
Adjust Orientation and Attach Filter Sliders
While the sensor is square, if orientation is of concern for the user the QHY533M has an adjustable front plate. Simply adjust the front plate to rotate the camera orientation to liking (for instance, to align with the telescope's RA and Dec).
In addition, the threaded interface of the 533M allows for direct attachment of a QHY small filter wheel, Nikon or Canon lens adapters, or other accessories.

About the QHY CFW3 Small Color Filter Wheel
QHY is introducing a revolutionary new 3rd generation filter wheel featuring an ultra-thin stepper motor drive and fully automatic filter switching capability. This particular model measures 20 mm in thickness and accepts up to seven 31 mm or 1.25" filters. Since this is the standard version of the small QHYCFW3, maximum thickness for mounted filters, excluding filter thread height, is 10 mm. Learn more about the QHYCFW3 Filter Wheel and its impressive features in the comprehensive video below!
Ultra-Thin Hybrid Stepper Motor Drive
QHYCCD has chosen to use an ultra-thin, high-quality hybrid stepper motor for the design of their third generation filter wheels. When compared to PM stepper motors used in many filter wheels, this hybrid stepper motor offers improved precision and a smaller step angle. An enclosed motor prevents the accumulation of dust for enhanced reliability and longer life. In addition, as filter rotation is reversible, the carousel can be rotated clockwise as well as counterclockwise for convenient filter access.
Friction Drive with Zero Backlash
The most innovative difference between the motor drive used in QHYCCD's 2nd generation filter wheels and these 3rd generation filter wheels is that this new filter wheel uses a friction drive for zero backlash during operation, while the previous model used a gear drive.
USB Serial Port Switch
Incorporates a serial port switch to enable fast shifting between serial and USB communication modes.
USB Powered
This filter wheel's firmware is open source and compatible with Arduino. It supports QHY 4-pin connection control mode and is designed to be compatible with QHY's Off-Axis Guider (OAG) for the corresponding size.
Beautiful Appearance
The main body of this QHYCCD 3rd generation color filter wheel is cut from a single precision CNC machined piece of aluminum. It boasts a skillfully crafted and elegant finish. As soon as you hold this filter wheel in your hands, its small design will prevent you from ever wanting to put it down!
Specifically designed to allow unmounted filters of varying thicknesses to be installed, the filter carousel in this small model QHY color filter wheel standard version also permits the installation of mounted filters under 10 mm in thickness to the same filter disc. Filter positioning is made quicker and more accurate.
Please Note : Image shows two separate versions of the QHYCFW3 filter wheel. If you purchase this item, you will receive only the 7-position wheel.
About the QHY OAG Off-Axis Guider
The QHY OAG comes in three versions to accommodate image sensors of various sizes. All QHY Off-Axis Guiders have the same main body, which includes the prism, but the telescope/camera interface is sized to accept thread adapters of different diameters. Regardless of the diameter of the interface, it has six (6) 3mm holes and, without adapters installed, a thickness of 10mm. Both the telescope side and camera side adapters have a thickness of 3mm. The final thickness of the OAG depends on whether you need to use just the telescope side thread adapter or both adapters.
The "Small" version of the QHY OAG has a diameter of 54mm, and will only work with M42/0.75 adapters.
The QHY OAG has an 8mm x 8mm multi-coated prism. Its position can be adjusted as desired and then locked into position with a thumbscrew. This OAG also comes with a locking multi-thread 1.25" focuser with an approximate range of 6mm. If you use the QHY5L-II as your guide camera, its position is adjustable when inserted into the QHY OAG-S. These two adjustments will give you a wide range of back focus.
