The 300Pi is the 12" entry in Sky-Watcher's Flextube SynScan collapsible Dobsonian line. The "Pi" differs from the "P" in that it includes a Wi-Fi dongle for wireless control of the telescope. A hand controller can be purchased separately.

Flextube Dobsonians Feature Improvements Over a "Truss Tube" Design and Include Everything Needed for Observation Right Out of the Box!
Classic Newtonian telescopes consist of optics in a closed metal or treated cardboard tube. The traditional Dobsonians from Sky-Watcher make use of this age-old design because of its relative ease of manufacture and therefore, low cost. However, because these tubes are closed (like a cardboard tube from an empty roll of paper towels, only bigger), storage or transport can sometimes be a challenge. To solve this problem, large Dobsonians were manufactured with a “Truss Tube” as opposed to a closed tube. Basically, the center part of the tube was replaced with struts: only the front and back of the tube, which held the optics, remained solid. This allowed the telescope tube to break down into several pieces (front end, back end, and individual struts), which instantly made it more portable.
The problem with truss tube telescopes, if there is one, has to do with all the pieces, especially the loose struts. Sometimes people forget a strut at home or it would become damaged, preventing the entire telescope from being properly assembled. Sky-Watcher came up with an innovative idea by making the telescope "collapsible" (retractable). In other words, the telescope tube doesn’t break down into pieces. Instead, the trusses collapse into the bottom part of the telescope tube and allow the top part of the scope to sit nicely on the bottom piece. Voila! Your telescope has lost about half of its length but the components stay in place!
The Sky-Watcher Flextube 300Pi SynScan GoTo Collapsible Dobsonian with WiFi Control comes with everything needed for visual observation right out of the box! Included is the collapsible tube, the Dobsonian base, a 9x50 straight-through finder scope, a 2" Crayford-style focuser with 1.25" adapter (for use with 2" or 1.25" eyepieces), a 25 mm Plossl 1.25" eyepiece, a 10 mm Plossl 1.25" eyepiece, and the SynScan Wi-Fi dongle for wireless navigation and control.
Collapsible/Retractable
Traditional Dobsonian telescopes are made from a solid tube that is not collapsible. "Truss tube"Dobsonians which break down into separate, detachable pieces. The Sky-Watcher Flextube does not break down into removable pieces, but retracts to provide better portability without the worry of losing any pieces.
Wireless Control
The included Sky-Watcher SynScan Wi-Fi dongle allows for wireless control of your Dobsonian Flextube telescope. Through a Wi-Fi network, users are able to use the SynScan Pro app for iOS, Android, and Windows devices allowing for easy, convenient, and wireless navigation and control.
