Introduced at the 2007 Northeast Astronomy Forum, Tele Vue once again broadened the amateur astronomer's perspective on the universe with 100° of Tele Vue quality. The field area of this new eyepiece is more than 50% larger than an 82° AFOV. The Tele Vue Ethos essentially combines the benefits of multiple eyepieces, offering the field view of a low-power focal length at a high-power magnification, all while delivering a darker sky background. These eyepieces have razor-sharp optics from corner to corner, 15 mm of eye relief, correction for fast f/ratio telescopes, and many other built-in features to limit stray light. About the Optics!
The high-quality features found in other Ethos focal lengths live in the 4.7 mm SX, including sharpness across the entire field, high contrast views, and superb control over aberrations such as astigmatism, field curvature, lateral color, angular magnification distortion, and low pupil sensitivity for daytime use. Each Ethos eyepiece incorporates flat-finished internal baffles. These baffles serve to control internal reflections, enhancing contrast! The lenses are treated with ultra-low reflection, high-efficiency coatings tuned to the specific glass compositions of each lens element. Blackened lens edges further reduce reflection to ensure you are receiving the highest quality views! This high-powered 4.7 mm focal length is ideal for detailed views of the lunar surface, Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars. You will want to avoid large nebulous structures or giant star clusters, or you would be limited to seeing only fragments of the larger object.

The 4.7 mm powerhouse weighs in at 1.3 lbs and is crafted of durable anodized aluminum, designed to withstand years of enjoyment! The 4.7 mm is parfocal with the wide range of Tele Vue eyepieces, requiring minimal to no refocusing when interchanged.
