High Transmission Triplet Design
This William Optics Gran Turismo 71 provides exceptional clarity and color correction within the captured frames. As the light rays pass through each of the three glass elements, they become more and more concentrated into a single focal point, delivering sharp detail and high contrast. Furthering performance, this refractor features high quality FPL-53 glass, and each lens surface is fully multi-coated with super-high transmission coatings (STM). The 419 mm focal length is suitable for framing targets like the Andromeda Galaxy, the Lagoon Nebula, and plenty more deep space objects!
Dual-Speed 2.5" Rack & Pinion Focuser
To make focusing a breeze, this William Optics Gran Turismo 71 includes a robust, 2.5” Rack & Pinion focuser that offers zero image shift while focusing. This focuser features two speeds in a 1:10 ratio, giving you ample control in finding perfect focus. Since focus fluctuates with the surrounding temperature, the large knob comes furnished with a built-in thermometer to help you determine when to refocus your telescope. Fitted with stainless steel reinforcements and two locking screws, this robust focuser provides a stable platform for your imaging train.
Included 32 mm UniGuide
To give you a jump on your guiding needs, William Optics has included a 32 mm UniGuide guidescope. This addition has a focal length of 120 mm, a focal ratio of f/3.75, and features a M42 thread for attaching 1.25" cylindrical-type guide cameras. To focus this guide scope, simply twist the built-in dew shield, then lock it in with black ring. With its matching red finish and fitted with a Vixen-style base, this guide scope seamlessly integrates into your imaging assembly.
Flat Field Imaging Out of the Box!
Designed to optimize the image quality produced by your Gran Turismo 71, this Flat6AIII provides a flat field imaging field across 97% of full frame sized sensors. Three fully multi-coated lens elements uphold the apochromatic performance of the Gran Turismo 71, and features high quality Ohara glass. This field flattener also doubles as a reducer with a 0.8x reducing rate, changing the native focal ratio from f/5.9 to f/4.7! This allows for light to be collected much faster, and also provides a larger field of view. For installation, simply remove the three screws on the focuser adapter, remove the adapter, then thread this Flat6AIII in its stead. The camera side of this flattener houses 2” threads, allowing for seamless integration with a wide majority of adapters and spacers on the market today. Just behind these threads, you’ll find a slot that accepts M48 sized filters.
Accessories that Amplify
In addition to the William Optics UniGuide and the Flat6AIII, this refractor comes standard with plenty more features to help upgrade your experience. For one, this telescope includes a retractable dew shield to help with dew prevention and protection against stray light. The lens cover itself includes a built-in Bahtinov mask, offering heightened convenience when focusing. Providing a stable mounting platform, two mounting rings secure this Gran Turismo 71 to the dovetail bar. These mounting rings include a CNC dual-use carry handle which allows for mounting of accessories (like the 32 mm UniGuide!). Providing great versatility, the William Optics DSD 120 dovetail plate fits both Vixen and Arca Swiss saddles, and includes two ¼-20 threaded holes. Also included is a camera angle rotator with M63 threads, and a soft carry case for effortless portability and protection when not in use.
