Apertura 8" SCT Dew Shield for EQ Mounted Scopes - V Series

Protect your Schmidt-Cassegrain Scope during your nights under the stars with this premium Apertura dew shield! Constructed with durable ABS and felt flocking lining, rest assured knowing your optics are safeguarded against dew and stray light all night long. Specially designed for SCTs mounted atop equatorial mounts with a V-style dovetail, this Apertura 8” SCT Dew Shield is the tailored choice for your environmental protection needs.

In humid environments, dew can easily form upon the glass corrector plates of Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, leading to lackluster observations. Additionally, stray light entering your scope may shroud details on the cosmos resulting in low-contrast views. To keep your optics fog-free and crystal clear, this Apertura 8” SCT Dew Shield creates a powerful barrier against moisture and off-axis light. Reinforced stitching ensures long-lasting performance, an addition most competing options omit. With Made in USA quality and an industry leading warranty, Apertura doubles down on this commitment to quality and cements this option as a top pick for your 8" telescope!

Learn More About the Apertura 8" Dew Shield

Read on to discover how Apertura has carefully crafted this dew shield to provide your astronomy outings with a premium level protection!

Rugged ABS
Providing the backbone of the Apertura 8" SCT Dew Shield is premium ABS. Flexible, durable, and thermally insulating, ABS provides your 8" Celestron SCT with a rigid wall of protection against the elements when installed, and a flat, flexible sheet when your session is over. This rugged material is also resistant to the elements, ensuring your shield lasts for years to come!

Dew and Light Shield
Apertura has paired ABS backing with an excellent felt flocking lining for an effective barrier against the outside elements. This combination acts as a wall against the outside air, providing passive dew protection by helping trap a pocket of air in front of your telescope's front element. This extends the time it takes for dew to form on your optics, allowing you to enjoy an entire session free from moisture or helping an active anti-dew solution work more efficiently. The additional cone in front of the optics also makes light's barrier to entry higher, helping stop sources of off-axis light from hitting your optics and lowering contrast with the flocking halting any light that does pass from reflecting off the shield itself.

Telescope Compatibility
This dew shield is designed specifically for Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain and EdgeHD telescopes mounted on equatorial mounts with a Vixen-style dovetail plate. Simply overlay the sections of hook and loop to lock the shield in a cone, and slip the shield over the front of the telescope tube while lining up the notch with the mounting bar of the telescope. A strip of foam provides the gentle pressure needed to keep the shield in place, and protects your telescope's finish!
