Say GoodBye To Clip In Filters!
For DSLR users, adding filters to your imaging train can prove to be difficult. More often than not, manufacturers fail to produce a clip-in version for their sought-after filter models, leaving DSLR users in the dark. Also, when clip-in versions are available, they can be quite challenging to install within the camera properly, especially for those with larger hands. Thanks to the ingenuity from Apertura, this Ultimate SCT T-Adapter is the only t-adapter available equipped with compatibility for the highly regarded ZWO 2” Filter Drawer! This means no more fumbling with small, finicky clip-in filters. Now, DSLR users are able to utilize the industry’s most popular 2” filters and no longer have to purchase separate types of filters for different types of cameras. Simply remove the 21mm end of the Ultimate SCT T-Adapter, install the flanged 1mm M42-M48 spacer from this kit, and thread on your ZWO Filter Drawer!
M42 Indexing Shim
Some DSLRs are fitted with an overhanging “nose” that houses its pop up flash module. When using the ZWO Filter Drawer with these types of DLSRs, this module can get in the way of removing or inserting the internal filter housing, making it a hassle to swap filters. With this issue in mind, Apertura has included a shim spacer that sits between your camera’s t-ring and the filter drawer itself. This addition allows you to freely rotate the filter drawer in any orientation so the filter housing will not make contact with the flash module. Just another quality of the Apertura SCT T-Adapter that makes it a cut above the rest!
Expand the Possibilities of Your SCT
Adding a focal reducer and other accessories to your imaging train can be daunting at times due to back focal requirements, but no need to fret! Apertura has done the hard work for you. Most dedicated astroimaging cameras come complete with 55mm of spacers, while a DSLR t-ring also houses 55mm in length. Understanding that most SCT focal reducers require 105mm of back focus distance, Apertura has designed this Ultimate SCT T-Adapter to be 50mm in length. The combined 55mm of spacers/t-ring plus the 50mm Ultimate T-Adapter results in 105mm, the perfect back focal distance for use with a focal reducer! Wanting to add additional accessories to your imaging train? This is where the beauty of the two piece configuration comes in. Many filter drawers and filter wheels on the market have a width of 21mm, the exact size of the removable 21mm portion on this Apertura SCT T-Adapter. Simply detach this 21mm removable portion and add these accessories, all while retaining the correct back focal distance.
Includes ZWO Filter Drawer Connection Kit
This connection kit allows you to expand your SCT's imaging capabilities by adding in support for the incredibly popular ZWO Gen 2 M42 filter drawer system! This kit includes the 1 mm adapter and indexing washer. Simply remove the end of the Ultimate SCT T-Adapter, install the 1 mm spacer from this kit, and thread on your ZWO filter drawer to add easy filter swapping functionality into your SCT/ reducer imaging system! While other SCT T-Adapter systems either require imaging filters to be installed in an internal filter cell, or installed in the camera via a specialized clip-in filter. With this system from Apertura however, you can say goodbye to unthreading filter cells in the field and goodbye to those clip-in filters. By allowing you to install ZWO's popular filter drawer and maintain the SCT reducer-critical 105 mm of backfocus in conjunction with most DSLR T-Rings on the market, you can easily use 2" imaging filters available on the market with your DSLR. This more common filter standard open your camera up to a wider selection of filters, which can then be used on future setups using dedicated astro cameras (or swapped in-between any dedicated systems you may already have) - making this an excellent choice for future-proofing your imaging setup! To help you align the ZWO filter drawer in the proper orientation for your DSLR, you can use the 3D printed indexing washer. This ensures you never need to worry about your filter drawer getting caught on overhanging flash/ flash shoe bumps - just place the washer in-between your filter drawer and DSLR T-Ring to rotate the drawer access location! The ZWO Gen 2 M42 x 0.75 Filter Drawer for 2" Filters is sold separately.
Detail Oriented and Ergonomically Constructed
Three separate pieces make up this Ultimate SCT T-Adapter with a removable portion that matches the widths of typical accessories added within an imaging train. For instance, the ZWO 2” Filter Drawer has a width of 21mm. This is the same width of the removable 21mm portion of the Ultimate SCT T-Adapter. Simply swap these two and the overall length of your imaging assembly remains unchanged. On the other end of this t-adapter, an ergonomically designed locking nut is easier to grip and tighten. This increases stability and prevents loosening during an imaging session, and also allows for camera rotation. Loosen the lock nut, adjust your camera to the desired rotation, then retighten the lock nut to hold everything in place. In addition to the multi-part design, each separate part of this Ultimate SCT T-Adapter includes a thicker flange to prevent continuous threading, an issue typical of other SCT t-adapters on the market. Their lack of a “shoulder” for an M48 adapter to rest against is a design flaw that prevents an end to threading, and can cause issues in keeping your equipment secured and at the correct back focal distance. The wide flange on the Apertura SCT T-Adapter creates a hard stop which halts threading, and keeps everything interlocked at the proper spacing. Also, continuous internal baffling can be found within the body of this Ultimate SCT T-Adapter, an addition that greatly reduces internal reflections for enhanced image quality!
