Dazzling Optics
Adopting a triplet air-spaced APO design, this refractor delivers clear and crisp images of many night sky objects like the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex. Two pieces of extra-low dispersion (ED) glass allow for superb color correction and the large aperture of 50mm offers excellent light gathering power. This wide field telescope allows you to highlight large galaxies and huge clouds of nebula at a fast focal ratio of f/5.5! Improve the light gathering ability of this telescope with the Sharpstar 50EDPH 0.84x Reducer (not included), which widens the field of view to 231mm and lowers the focal ratio to f/4.6.
Small But Mighty!
Coming in as the smallest refractor in the EDPH series of telescopes from Sharpstar, this OTA has all of the features of its larger counterparts but has been scaled-down to a conveniently portable body. By including three corrective lens, a design rare in refractors this small, Sharpstar has designed a refractor that can fit in the palm of your hand without sacrificing optical quality! Easily fitting on the most popular portable mounts like the Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer, the Sharpstar 50EDPH is a perfect travel scope!
Rack and Pinion Focuser
The Sharpstar 50EDPH includes an intuitive 1:10 dual-speed rack and pinion focuser, so you can find your desired focus easily and quickly. One rotation of the large knob is equal to 10 rotations of the smaller knob, so you can start with a rough focus, then dial in the details. This robust and rigid focusing system keeps your images and views steady all night long!
Innovative Additions
This Sharpstar refractor includes endless additions, readying you for a night of imaging! Built into the mounting ring is the 70mm Vixen-style dovetail foot, offering added stability while mounted. Additionally, the included 1/4-20 threaded holes on the base of the dovetail plate allows you to connect your telescope to a tripod. Also integrated is a 360 degree rotator with a locking screw, letting you find the preferred angle within your frames. Connect a user provided finderscope or guidescope using the included finderbase that can be attached to either side of the mounting ring.
Ideal For Both Visual Astronomy and Astrophotography
The prime Sharpstar optics give you the best of both worlds! Connect your DSLR or dedicated astronomy camera for clear and detailed widefield images or attach a diagonal and eyepiece with the included 1.25” adapter for stunning views of the night sky. Included are two 5mm M48 extension tubes for visual use without the need for a diagonal. Talk about versatility: You can also use these extension tubes to easily attach a planetary camera for impressive photos of our solar system neighbors!
