Redefining Wide-Field Excellence: The Tele Vue Ethos 6mm Eyepiece!

Includes a Free Eyepiece Case

Receive a free eyepiece case when you buy this eyepiece from High Point Scientific! You will love the way the two piece “bolt-style” case threads together to securely protect your new eyepiece from dust, moisture, and scratches during storage.

Building upon the legacy of the Tele Vue Nagler eyepiece series, the Ethos series features everything excellent about the Naglers, though with a 50% increase in the apparent field of view! First proposed by Tele Vue President David Nagler, this Ethos eyepiece series needed to include the fundamental characteristics (the ethos) that mark Tele Vue quality: high contrast, comfortable eye relief, and full field sharpness. After careful craftsmanship and oversight by Tele Vue founder Al Nagler himself, the Ethos eyepieces deliver next-level viewing experiences, making them a must have for those seeking expansive, wide sights with impeccable sharpness from edge to edge!

Featuring an impressive 100° AFOV, this Tele Vue 6 mm Ethos 1.25”/2” eyepiece provides panoramic views and delivers a “floating through the stars” feeling. These broad vistas set the Ethos eyepieces apart from the rest, immersing you within the cosmos like never before. The 6 mm focal length is wonderful for beautiful, in-depth views of the Orion Nebula, the Hercules Star Cluster, Saturn & Jupiter, and a host of other cosmic wonders. Exceptional control of astigmatism, field curvature, lateral color, and angular magnification distortion correction further enhance your experience, offering top-of-the-line clarity and contrast! This can be attributed to the high degree of precision Tele Vue is widely renowned for, delivering stark sights of your favorite celestial objects night after night. In addition to the impressive optical performance, the demonstration of Tele Vue quality continues within the physical body of this eyepiece. Feel free to utilize both 2” and 1.25” focusers with its versatile design, while the blackened lens edges, anti-reflection threads, and rubber eyeguards deliver maximum contrast. Blending precision, performance, and versatility, this premium eyepiece is a perfect addition to your astronomy toolkit!

100° of Uncompromised Clarity

Harnessing the precision craftsmanship of Tele Vue, you can expect stunning sights through this 6 mm Ethos eyepiece. Their commitment to providing top-tier performance gives way to sharp stars across the full field of view and beautiful, bright detail against an inky black sky, helping you deepen your love for astronomy. Read on as we take a deeper dive into the aspects of this high quality Tele Vue 6 mm Ethos 1.25”/2” eyepiece below!

The Elegance of the Ethos Design
Paul Dellechiaie, a long-time employee and optical design protégé, aimed to stretch the horizons of Tele Vue optical quality, delivering this state-of-the-art Ethos eyepiece series. With help from Al Nagler, the founder of Tele Vue and genius behind the highly successful Nagler eyepiece series, Tele Vue once again pushes the boundaries of exceptional nights under the stars, offering pristine sights across a 100° field of view. This eyepiece line provides 50% more visual area than the Nagler series, for more immersive views than ever before! In addition to a large scope of vision, you can expect maximum contrast thanks to the ingenuity of flat finished baffles, ultra low reflectance, and high efficiency coatings fine-tuned for each optical component.

First-Class Build Quality
Boasting a high-grade black, anodized aluminum body, this Ethos eyepiece provides impressive durability. The premium, solid build upholds the performance of this 6 mm eyepiece, ensuring stark, high contrast sights even with extensive use! With the commitment to quality from Tele Vue, blackened lens edges, anti-reflection threads, and internal baffles further the already exceptional performance of this eyepiece by maximizing contrast and reducing stray light. The rubber eye guards help you comfortably view the cosmos, while the low weight of 0.97 lbs. enables effortless transport for all of your astronomy adventures. Adaptable to either 2” or 1.25” focusers, feel free to utilize a wide variety of telescopes on the market today. This Tele Vue Ethos eyepiece features an effective field stop of 10.4 mm and an eye relief of 15 mm.

6 mm of Focal Length
In order to take full advantage of your telescope’s light gathering power, finding the right combination of telescope focal length and eyepiece focal length (i.e. your system’s magnification) helps you achieve the best views possible. Not only does this ratio help you determine what celestial objects can be viewed, it also gives insight into how clear the image will be based on your local seeing conditions. Under good seeing conditions, it’s best to capitalize on this still air by utilizing higher magnifications, while lower magnifications help you make the most out of below-average seeing. The formula for magnification is as follows: Telescope Focal Length ÷ Eyepiece Focal Length. Pairing this 6 mm Tele Vue Ethos eyepiece with a standard 1200mm focal length Dobsonian yields a high magnification of 200x—making it wonderful for up-close sights on bright, compact celestial objects, with the best views under good seeing. Understanding Exit Pupil
The exit pupil is the beam of light exiting your eyepiece. It’s an important factor in determining how bright the image through an eyepiece will be. We measure the exit pupil by its diameter in millimeters, with the bigger the diameter, the brighter the image. Large (5-7 mm) and medium (2-5 mm) exit pupils are wonderful for faint deep sky objects. Small exit pupils (<2 mm), on the other hand, prove to be useful for planetary or lunar viewing. Calculating the exit pupil of your eyepiece/telescope combination is super easy: Exit Pupil = Telescope Aperture (mm) ÷ Magnification, or Exit Pupil = Eyepiece Focal Length ÷ Telescope Focal Ratio. This Tele Vue Ethos Eyepiece has a focal length of 6 mm. When paired with a standard f/6 telescope, the resulting exit pupil will be 1 mm, making this eyepiece a great choice for observing Saturn’s rings, Jupiter's Cloud Bands, lunar craters, and more!
