Make Focusing Easy with the ZWO EAF 5V USB 2.0 Version!

Includes Hand Controller and Temperature Sensor!

Providing ease of use, convenience, and saving you time, adding an electronic autofocuser to your set up greatly enhances your astrophotography experience. Fluctuating temperatures during an imaging session causes the body of your telescope to either expand or contract, resulting in a shift in the focal point of your optics. To preserve sharp focus within your frames, it’s recommended to refocus your telescope about once an hour for maximum image quality. When performing manual focusing routines, this can become bothersome during overnight imaging sessions, especially in cold weather. An electronic autofocuser, such as this ZWO EAF, does the hard work for you! Utilizing software to find the precise focal point of your optics, this system automates your focusing process. Installation is simple, and the EAF finds focus in no time. You can also select how often you’d like this focuser to perform its routine for the sharpest images possible!

The ZWO EAF allows for easy installation on a variety of popular telescopes with its included couplers and tools. Coming in at only 0.6lbs (277g), this small, compact focusing system provides excellent performance without adding bulk to your telescope set up. This upgraded version excludes a 12V DC port, and allows both a supply of power and transmission of data through a single USB2.0 Type-B port. This sole port offers ease of use as well as improved cable management. Operate the ZWO EAF through the ASIAIR, your favorite capture software supported by ASCOM, or the included hand controller. Giving insight into the shifting temperatures outside is the ZWO temperature sensor, which comes within this EAF package. Monitoring the changes in temperature gives you a better idea on how often to perform the automated focusing routine for the best possible images.

Connection and Compatibility

Attaching the EAF to your telescope may seem daunting at first, but no need to fret! The process is simple and straightforward. The EAF replaces the focusing knob that rests around the focusing shaft and controls focus through this connection. Simply remove this focusing knob and attach the EAF in its stead with the appropriate included coupler. A mounting bracket also comes with this package to provide support and secures the EAF in its place. There are multiple couplers provided with this EAF, allowing use with a wide range of telescopes. One side of the coupler attaches to the EAF itself, while the other side fits around the focusing shaft of your telescope. Four different sizes are provided with this electronic focuser: 5-4mm, 5-5mm, 5-6mm, 5-7mm. Unsure if these couplers will fit your telescope? You can easily measure the diameter of your focusing shaft by removing the appropriate focusing knob. Next, take the diameter of the focusing shaft and compare it to the sizes of the couplers provided to see the compatibility with your telescope. This ZWO EAF is known to work with popular Sky-Watcher refractors, Dobsonians, and reflectors. It also is compatible with telescope series from SharpStar, Apertura, and William Optics.

Multiple Means of Control
The ZWO EAF can be controlled a number of different ways. Utilize capture software that is supported by the ASCOM platform and INDI drivers, such as NINA or Astro Photography Tool. This focuser can also be connected to the popular ASIAIR WiFi imaging and control system (sold separately), allowing users to run their entire imaging sessions with a smartphone or tablet. Utilize the included ZWO EAF Hand Controller for precise focusing without the need for a computer.

Added Hand Controller & Temperature Sensor
This ZWO Advanced Electronic Automatic Focuser comes with two additional accessories to assist you with your focusing needs. As mentioned above, you can focus your telescope with the included hand controller. The intuitive design and multiple focusing speeds offer simple, hands free focusing. The included temperature sensor works in conjunction with your imaging software to automate the focusing routine after a predefined temperature shift. This means you can tell the EAF to refocus after the temperature has dropped a certain amount of degrees, maximizing your image sharpness!
