A High Performance, Professional Camera for Astrophotography

Let's Dig into the Data!

The ZWO ASI4400MC Pro Color Camera is capable of producing some incredible images with its IMX366 sensor! This sensor is packed with performance, but how can you tell this camera will be a stellar performer for you ahead of adding it to your system? Well it's all in the graphs! Quantum efficiency, read noise, dark current, full well graphs and more all tell a part of the story of a sensor's performance, and you can learn how to decode these charts and what they represent in our article about camera charts and how to read them!

Full of Features!

This large sensor camera is jam-packed with a mighty modern Sony back side illuminated (BSI) imaging chip and ZWO's suite of excellent Pro line features for a powerhouse that is certain to deliver!

Powerful Modern Sensor
Breathless, expansive astrovistas await with this camera's modern full-frame imaging sensor! Powering the ZWO ASI4400MC Pro Color Camera is Sony's backside illuminated IMX366 sensor, bringing you both high resolution and high performance. With an 8192 x 5460, 44.7 MP array packed into the 43.3 mm diagonal chip, you'll have a wider perspective than crop sensor cameras and plenty of latitude for cropping or larger scale printing, allowing you to realize your vision for a variety of mediums! The 4.4μm pixels provide a great pixel match for medium to longer focal length telescopes, and feature 80% peak QE, low read noise of about 1.1e, fantastic dynamic range with a large 74.6 Ke full well depth, and 14 bit ADC. This gives your images not just fine grained detail, but also the 'wow' factor of high contrast for striking results! With its one-shot-color (OSC) design, the flow from idea to image is streamlined, requiring less effort and equipment to create a captivating color photo.

Stellar Supporting Suite
A standout imaging sensor is no good if you can't reliably realize its imaging potential! That's where ZWO's tried and true Pro line design and features come in, supporting the IMX366 sensor and maximizing results. For thermal protection, this camera comes equipped with an anti-dew window to fight moisture formation from the cold and a two stage electric cooler to fight image noise from sensor heat. With up to 30-35°C of cooling power, the TEC system can significantly cool your sensor below the ambient temperature for clearer sub frames. ZWO has also added their amp glow suppression technology in to reduce bright electronics bloom, further ensuring cleaner data and smoothing out the post processing flow. To combat hurdles of a digital nature, the ASI4400MC Pro uses a large 512MB DDR3 memory buffer. This allows you to capture the next frame even if there is a hold up in the data transfer process, helping your image collection session flowing even when brief disruptions occur! Finally, is a UV-IR cut window, which is a perfect pair for the OSC chip to prevent star 'bloat'!

Power and Ports
Connecting the ZWO ASI4400MC Pro to your computer and electronic extras is easy! For fast and reliable data transfer, the camera comes equipped with a snappy USB 3.0 connection through the USB-B port on the rear of the camera. You can share this high speed data connection with up to two additional USB accessories via two USB 2.0 ports, simplifying cable management for a cleaner, less snag prone experience. Finally, to power this Pro line camera is an industry standard 5.5x2.1mm DC input for 12V 3A power*.

*Please Note: This camera requires power even if you do not intend to use features like anti-dew, cooling, or the USB hub. Without an adequate power supply, the camera may not register as connected, fail to function in your imaging suite, or give capture errors.

Simplified Spacing
Adding the ZWO ASI4400MC Pro Color Camera to your optical system is a cinch with the included set of spacers and adapters. This now ubiquitous 16.5mm&21mm spacing combo of spacers allows you to easily make up the industry standard 55mm backfocus distance, or accommodate a number of other popular ZWO accessories such as filter wheels and OAGs (sold separately), right out of the box! This natively supports M48 connections, with an M42-M48 step up ring included for M42 systems. These spacers connect to a tilt plate on the front of the camera, which can be easily adjusted with the included hex wrench to calibrate the ASI4400MC Pro to your system.
