The ZWO ASI585MM-Air Wireless Smart Camera and Guider is capable of producing some incredible images with its IMX585 sensor! This sensor has cemented itself as a great performing small chip; but can you tell this camera will be a stellar performer even without this wide-spread success? You can—it's all in the graphs! Quantum efficiency, read noise, dark current, full well graphs and more all tell a part of the story of a sensor's performance, and you can learn how to decode these charts and what they represent in our article about camera charts and how to read them!
A Streamlined 3-in-1 Package
While the ZWO ASI585MM-Air Wireless Smart Camera and Guider stands out by packing an excellent main sensor, a guide camera, and wireless control into one package, there's more than these headliners that make up this system. control, and with the ZWO ASI585MM Air you can enhance your imaging system
without a separate unit! This superb system has been built into the camera
housing and features the full ASIAir software suite, including locating
targets, polar alignment assistance, on-device image stacking and
processing, auto-focus support, and mount/ ZWO accessory control. This is
supported by 256GB of storage and 2GB of RAM, providing plenty of room for
your data and high-performance. This allows you to streamline your setup
without sacrificing on performance, providing a sleek and effective imaging
system!
High Sensitivity Main Image Sensor
Featuring the
popular IMX585 mono image sensor, this camera is capable of producing some
truly incredible images for its size! This sensor is the same small sensor
powerhouse driving the stellar ZWO ASI585MM Pro camera, bring you that
standout camera's excellent 38.7Ke full-well depth, impressive 91% Peak QE,
low 0.7-6.67e read noise, and 12 bit dynamic range. This performance is
packed into a 1/1.2" type sensor sporting 8.29 megapixels, for a small
sensor that packs great resolution and dynamic range in a compact package.
Combine this might mono sensor with a solid filter set (not included), and
your images will shine with sharp detail and dynamic 'punch'! Incredible
image quality is further enhanced with two-stage TEC cooling, which can cool
the chip to -30°C below the ambient temperature for lower image noise.
ZWO has also built the ASI585MM Air with amp glow fighting technology, which
leaves you with an image virtually free of sensor hotspots!
Integrated Guide Sensor
Say goodbye to separate guide scopes and OAGs! Not content to stop at full
ASIAir integration, this camera brings you the ZWO Duo line on-axis guiding
system with the secondary SC2210 guide sensor. This eliminates the headache
of OAG camera spacing or guide scope alignment & focusing by placing
your guide sensor on the same plane as your main image sensor. Simply use
the knob on the camera housing to fine-tune your guide sensor focus with
respect to the main IMX585, and you're ready to guide! This sensor sits
within a 36 mm image circle, ensuring that common full-frame image circles
can adequately illuminate this secondary sensor. The same sensor from ZWO's
popular ASI220MM Mini guide camera, this solution brings you a full sized
guiding solution without the extra bulk and complication!

The ZWO
ASI585MM-Air Wireless Smart Camera and Guider supports both popular wireless

Image Circle Insight
With two sensors included, it’s important to utilize optics with an image
circle large enough to support both. The imaging and guide sensors of this
ZWO ASI585MM-Air fit inside an image circle of 36 mm. While telescopes with
an APS-C sized image circle can work, the guide star shapes may
become distorted resulting in subpar results. This is why it’s highly
recommended to utilize optics supporting at least 36 mm, with a full-frame
image circle or larger yielding the best performance!
