A High Performance, Professional Camera for Astrophotography

Let's Dig into the Data!

What sets one astrophotography camera apart from another? How is performance measured? Camera and sensor manufacturers provide certain interconnected specifications that give insight into the performance of a camera. These measurements include quantum efficiency, read noise, full well depth, gain, dark current, and dynamic range. While the graphs provided by the manufacturer may be confusing or intimidating, don't fret! Our team has put together a breakdown of these complicated topics to help you make sense of them. Take a look at the article here: Understanding ZWO Camera Charts and Graphs, and feel more confident making the right choice for your astrophotography needs!

Sony IMX676 CMOS Sensor
Fitted with the Sony IMX676 sensor, striking detail on the night sky is yours for the taking! This monochrome model does not include an integrated Bayer matrix, enabling maximum photon collection for high signal-to-noise ratios. The peak QE value of 83% and low 0.56e read noise further performance, and the 12MP resolution and 2um pixel size offers outstanding clarity. Optimal for preventing oversaturation of the pixel wells, the rated 10.55Ke full well capacity helps create stunning gradients within your collected images. This IMX676 is square in size, a unique sensor format perfect for mosaic creation and all-sky imaging. With this uniform design, stitching frames together has never been easier, and this square architecture aligns naturally within the circular structure of fisheye lenses. However you choose to employ this ZWO ASI676MM camera, you’ve got yourself an invaluable tool for your astronomy endeavors!

Electronic Highlights
Boasting the industry-leading construction of ZWO, this ASI676MM camera houses a number of useful features to assist with high performance imaging. For one, the onboard 256 MB DDR3 memory buffer ensures smooth, reliable data transmission to your computer or WiFi camera control device. This addition is particularly useful during high frame rate imaging where a large amount of data is gathered in a short period of time. Another key benefit is the absence of amp glow! Enjoy capturing clean frames no matter how high your gain value or how long your exposure time. The built-in high conversion gain (HCG) mode is highly beneficial for those who wish to maintain the full dynamic range while imaging with high gains. This functionality automatically kicks in at a gain of 180, keeping the readout noise to a minimal 0.56e and dynamic range levels close to 11 stops.

USB 3.0 and ST4 Guide Port
On the body of this ZWO ASI676MM, you’ll find two ports: a USB 3.0 port and an ST-4 guide port. Connect your camera to your computer via this USB 3.0 port for smooth, reliable data transfer and seamless operation. ZWO includes a high quality USB 3.0 Type B cable within this box to help get you started. This mode of connection also supplies sufficient power to operate your camera. If you wish to utilize this camera’s high sensitivity for guiding purposes, easily do so with either port! An ST-4 guide cable comes standard within this package for direct connection to your equatorial mount.
