The Ultimate Lunar Viewing Experience!

While typically only reflecting about 12% of the sunlight it’s exposed to, our Moon is still incredibly bright in our night sky. Because of this, viewing the Moon through a telescope can sometimes be uncomfortable, making visual sessions less than ideal. This is where the Apertura Variable Polarizing Filter steps in! By reducing the intensity of the Moon’s overall brightness, this high quality Apertura filter can eliminate the discomfort that can sometimes occur when viewing such a brilliant target, resulting in a more pleasant viewing experience. Also, the polarizing aspect of this filter greatly reduces glare, further enhancing your visual sessions!

As opposed to standard Moon filters that only let a fixed amount of light pass through, Apertura has designed this variable polarizing filter to offer dynamic filtration. Rotating the top portion of this filter changes the interference pattern of the filter and allows you to precisely fine-tune exactly how much light you want to pass through the filter! Not only is this crucial for comfortable viewing, this filter makes it easier to perceive the subtle details and contrasting shadows that dance across the lunar surface. From the full Moon to crescent slivers, and dimly lit craters to brilliantly illuminated mountain ranges, the Apertura Variable Polarizing Filter assists you in achieving the most pleasing views possible.

Craters, Valleys, Mountains, & Maria - Experience Every Detail!

The power to change the amount of light passing through this filter is highly beneficial to those looking to elevate their lunar observations. Not only this, but the effortless adaptation to your set up and superb build quality from Apertura make this Variable Polarizing Filter a must have within any astronomy enthusiast’s toolkit! Read more about this incredible filter below.

Keep Up With Every Phase
As the Moon changes phases, its overall illumination varies, and with this, different details are revealed. This is especially true near the terminator, where structures are most pronounced due to the shadows cast by countless craters and mountains. By offering the ability to adjust the amount of filtration provided, the Apertura Variable Polarizing Filter ensures that you can keep up with the constant brightening or dimming of the Moon throughout the month! Another great feature of the Apertura Variable Polarizing filter is its usefulness on another bright solar system neighbor: Venus! As the second brightest object in our night sky due to its highly reflective atmosphere, you can dim its incoming light and more comfortably witness its changing phases. Thanks to this Variable Polarizing Filter from Apertura, your visual sessions are sure to be taken to the next level, without the annoying glare usually associated with night time observations of this planet.

Compatible With Almost Any System
This Apertura 2” Variable Polarizing Filter is mounted within a sturdy filter cell, and seamlessly incorporates into your visual set up for the ultimate lunar views. Simply thread it onto the bottom of your 2” eyepiece, or any 1.25" to 2" adapter that is threaded for 2" filters, then insert your eyepiece into your focuser or diagonal, and you’re ready to go!

Built With Quality in Mind
As Apertura is known for their high caliber craftsmanship, they have designed this variable polarizing filter with the same level of precision. Quality Schott B270 glass coupled with features such as Ion Assisted Deposition (IAD) coatings deliver the utmost light transmission by reducing light scatter. These coatings also uphold the filter’s durability by improving its environmental resistance. The rated 60/40 Surface Quality and λ/4 Surface Flatness provide maximum sharpness and clarity for highly satisfying results!
