When it comes to counteracting the rotation of the Earth to freeze the night sky in place for incredible Milky Way pictures, you need something that can rotate your gear around the same center point. Move Shoot Move's Nomad has rotation covered, and lining that up with the celestial pole is where this accessory kit comes in! The Calibrated Pointer shines a bright <5mW green Class 3R laser* into the night sky, marking the Nomad's current axis of rotation. This allows you to line up your Nomad quickly and easily; for Northern hemisphere users it is as simple as overlapping Polaris with the green dot and you're ready to begin imaging! This kit includes the adapter you need to install the Calibrated Pointer to your Nomad, the Calibrated Pointer itself, and a rechargeable lithium battery and lithium battery charger — everything you need to add laser guided alignment assistance to your ultra portable Move Shoot Move star tracker!
* Please Note: Your calibrated laser pointer may come with an insulator installed which prevents the laser from turning on in transit. Unscrew the rear cap and remove the thin white insulating disc and reinstall the cap when ready to use. Always exercise caution when using the laser, as directly looking into the beam or its reflection can cause permanent eye damage.
Laser Guided Alignment Process
Aligning with the Move Shoot Move Calibrated Pointer is simple! Start by installing the Calibrated Pointer to your Move Shoot Move Nomad with the included adapter, attach your camera, and then install this on to your tripod. Now turn on the Calibrated Pointer, and adjust the Nomad until the green laser point projected in the sky is over the alignment point for your hemisphere; for the Northern hemisphere this is simply Polaris, in the Southern hemisphere this is a point between the Octant and Southern Cross. That's it! You're now aligned and ready to begin taking Milky Way pictures!

Everything You Need For Nomad
This kit includes
everything you need to upgrade your Move Shoot Move Nomad! In addition to
the Calibrated Pointer, battery, and charger, this kit includes the Nomad
Adapter which allows the pointer to be installed in place of the red
threaded dimple cap on the rear of the Move Shoot Move Nomad. Assembling
this kit is a breeze — simply unthread the front cap of the Calibrated
Pointer, thread on the red Nomad Adapter cap, and then install the accessory
in place of the red threaded cap on the Nomad. This can replace the function
of the red threaded cap, allowing you to install the Calibrated Pointer
alongside other excellent Nomad accessories like the
Move Shoot Move Polar Scope, Adapter, and Illuminator Kit
or
Move Shoot Move Phone Mount and Nomad Mount Adapter Kit!
Removable, Rechargeable, Battery Included
Powering the
Move Shoot Move Calibrated Pointer is a single 16340 lithium battery. This
can be removed from the pointer housing by removing the tail cap, allowing
you to recharge the battery in the external USB-C powered charging station
(USB-C power supply separately). This ensures your Calibrated Pointer will
never be down for long, recharging from common USB-C power supplies or
battery banks you're likely to have out at your Milky Way imaging location
or able to be swapped in the moment with a spare 16340 cell (sold
separately).
