A High Performance, Professional Camera for Astrophotography
Let's Dig into the Data!
What sets one astrophotography camera apart from another? How is performance measured? Camera and sensor manufacturers provide certain interconnected specifications that give insight into the performance of a camera. These measurements include quantum efficiency, read noise, full well depth, gain, and dynamic range. While the graphs provided by the manufacturer may be confusing or intimidating, don't fret! Our team has put together a breakdown of these complicated topics to help you make sense of them. Take a look at the article here: Understanding ZWO Camera Charts and Graphs, and feel more confident making the right choice for your astrophotography needs!
A High-Performing Cooled Camera!
With an excellent full-frame one-shot-color imaging sensor supported by advanced technology, this dedicated astrophotography camera brings big performance and resolution to your night sky explorations.
Full Frame Sony IMX455 Sensor
With the Sony IMX455 sensor at the heart of this camera you can capture
stunning shots in incredible resolution! This full-frame sensor sports a
9576x6388 resolution for a massive 61.2 megapixel image. The one-shot-color
variant of this impressive sensor can capture incoming starlight with 80%
peak Quantum Efficiency (QE). Its full color capabilities make this
perfectly suited to capturing incredible images without adding additional
accessories to your imaging train This Back Side Illuminated (BSI) CMOS
design also features a native 16-bit ADC, 51.4Ke full well depth, and read
noise of 0.86-3.3e. A High Gain Conversion mode is additionally activated at
a gain of 100, which reduces noise while preserving dynamic range. What this
all means for you:
incredible detail, sharp contrast range, and crisp images.
Electronic Highlights
ZWO has equipped the ASI6200MC P25 with a number of powerful features to
enhance its incredible sensor's performance! With their Zero Amp Glow
technology, images are free from glow even at longer exposure times. For
even more clarity a two-stage thermoelectric cooling system has been paired
to the sensor,
cooling the IMX455 30-35° below ambient temperature for sensor noise
reduction. Images are buffered with a 512 MB DDR3 memory system, allowing you to
continue to capture a number of images while the previous one is being
transferred. This camera also comes equipped with a built-in polyimide dew
heater which will keep your camera window clear of moisture even in
challenging conditions, and can be toggled off to conserve power in more
forgiving environments.
Power and Ports
To power the ZWO ASI6200MC P25's advanced sensor and supporting systems,
this camera uses the industry standard 5.5x2.1 mm 12V DC port. Driving this
incredible astrophotography camera requires 3A of 12V power, allowing the
camera to pair perfectly with ZWO's ASIAir systems and standalone supplies
like the
Apertura Universal 5 Amp AC Adapter.. For quick image transfers this camera comes with a USB B 3.0 port; which
can additionally connect your supporting accessories like a filter wheel,
electronic focuser, guide camera, or more through the two USB A 2.0 ports
attached to a built-in USB hub.
Everything Needed for Proper Backfocus Spacing
Find the perfect backfocus right from the get go with the three included
extenders and adapters. The industry standard of 55mm of backfocus can be
achieved with the M48-M48 16mm extender, M54-M48 21mm extender, and the
17.5mm of back focal distance within the camera itself. Wanting to add extra
accessories to your imaging train? These adapters make it easy to swap out
additional ZWO accessories, such as an an
OAG
or
Filter Wheel!
