Unmounted, Seven Position, Electronic Filter Wheel with Direct Connection Capabilities!

Are you looking for the best way to switch between imaging filters during your astrophotography sessions? This ZWO EFW II Electronic Filter Wheel is designed to handle seven 36 mm filters with ease, giving you a lot of options when choosing which filters you would like to shoot through. The ZWO EFW II 7x36 Filter Wheel can be rotated in either direction for filter selection, and the quality NPM stepper motor, which is made in Japan, is very reliable and precise.

For this filter wheel, ZWO has added the direction connection passthrough slots that are found on their 2" electronic filter wheel models. When used with compatible cameras this allows the filters to be placed very close to the camera sensor, maximizing the coverage provided and minimizing/ eliminating vingetting that can occur when using smaller filters farther forward in the imaging train. With this direct connection and the 36mm filter size, this filter wheel allows for excellent coverage of sensors up to the APS-C size! In addition, the ZWO EFW II 7-position Filter Wheel for 36mm Filters has connection points for the ZWO OAG-L, allowing for a sleek, solid, direct connection to this popular guiding solution.

Wide Variety of Connection Options

ZWO has included a number of adapters, spacers, and hardware that allow the EFW II 7-position Filter Wheel to connect this to common imaging train configurations. M2.5 screws are included to make the direct connection with compatible ZWO cooled cameras, with a T2-T2 2mm spacer for those instead looking for a more modular build or one using a ZWO/ other brand camera. Also included in the box are an 1.25" nosepiece and 1.25" compression adapter - so if you're looking to connect this filter wheel to a visual back, ZWO has you covered here as well!

Direct Connection Installation

Directly connecting this filter wheel to your cooled astronomy camera is easy! All you'll need besides the filter wheel and camera is the screwdriver and four of the six M2.5 screws included in the box with this filter wheel.

Start by removing the eight screws that attach the filter wheel cover, and remove the cover. When installing a camera with the tilt plate on, the wheel assembly can remain attached; however to make the process easier this can be removed by unscrewing the the three Philips head screws at the center of the wheel, and then lifting it off of the center hub. Set the camera down so that it is facing upwards (ensuring that it is on a large work surface so that nothing takes a tumble!) and roughly line up the holes near the filter window of the filter wheel with the holes on the camera tilt plate. Once you've roughly lined these up, focus on lining up one hole with its corresponding connection point on the camera, and then thread in one of the M2.5 screws. Don't tighten this down all the way just yet. Repeat for the remaining holes - note that if you've left the wheel installed, you may need to rotate this to uncover one of the installation holes. Once all four screws are installed, tighten all four down securely to lock the filter wheel and camera together. You can now reinstall the filter wheel (if removed), any filters you wish to use, and the filter wheel cover!

The ZWO EFW II 7-position Filter Wheel for 36mm filters is packed with space for a wide number of 36mm filters, includes industry standard PC control features, and comes with number of handy accessories out of the box to make adding this into your imaging rig an easy process.

To ensure wide compatibility, ZWO has ensured this is not just compatible with their popular ASIAIR systems but also the widely used ASCOM standard - allowing you to control this from a wide variety of PC software!
