A Powerful Newtonian Perfect for Astrophotography

Looking to capture stunning images of the night sky? Look no further than this Apertura 10” Imaging Newtonian! With 10” of aperture, it collects 1.56x the amount of light over the Apertura 8” Imaging Newtonian! An aperture this size soaks in a significant amount of photons, delivering bright images and vivid colors. With its diffraction-limited optics, incredible build quality, and a host of inclusions, you’re well equipped in exploring the cosmos with outstanding clarity. Whether you wish to capture crisp detail of the Moon’s surface, get to know the planets, or unveil the beauty of near countless deep space wonders, the Apertura 10” Newtonian is a perfect addition to your telescope collection.

As a diffraction-limited telescope, the primary and secondary mirrors are so well designed that maximum resolution is guaranteed. This means the views and images are as sharp as possible, limited only by the physics of how light bends affecting clarity. The fast f/4 focal ratio makes it a powerful tool for astrophotography, enabling ample light collection in little time. This commitment to quality from Apertura continues with the expert construction of the telescope—from its rolled steel optical tube to its sturdy Crayford focuser. Easily secure it atop your favorite telescope mount with the included tube rings and Vixen-style dovetail bar, and with a built-in cooling fan and other additions, you’re well on your way to capturing beautiful astroimages!

A High Performance Telescope Loaded with Qualities

This Apertura 10" Imaging Newtonian is jam packed with features. With its sizable 10" optics, precision-engineered craftsmanship, and thoughtful inclusions, this telescope is an astrophotographer's dream! Read more about this 10" Newtonian telescope below.

10" of Aperture
Housing a large 10” (254 mm) aperture, this Apertura telescope collects a copious amount of light for impressive resolution of detail. An aperture of this size provides excellent illumination across your sensor, making it a choice telescope for those looking to expose faint deep space objects. Also, the speedy f/4 focal ratio is wonderful for capturing photons efficiently, while the 1016 mm focal length is great for framing a host of celestial objects within the field of view. Take a look at Jupiter and its Great Red Spot, get to know the Orion Nebula, and marvel at our closest cosmic neighbor, the Moon!

Expertly Crafted
In addition to exceptional optical performance, this Apertura 10” Newtonian is built to last. With its rolled steel tube, you can expect high resistance to dents and scratches along with ample support for your imaging gear. The OTA is 38.5" long, has a diameter of 11-7/8", and weighs 29.25 pounds without the finderscope installed. Internally, this Newtonian is painted matte black to put a damper on internal reflections, providing you with the utmost image quality. For easy collimation, the center-spotted primary mirror is secured within an aluminum cell fitted with six "push/pull" collimation knobs. This allows for quick, on the fly mirror alignment without the need for tools! Four ultra-thin spider vanes hold the secondary mirror in place. Though slender, these vanes provide maximum stability for resistance against misalignment and vibrations.

Dual-Speed Crayford Focuser
Helping you dial in the details is a 3.3” dual-speed Crayford focuser. Like the rest of this telescope, this focuser is built with durability in mind, housing linear bearings that result in a rigid drawtube with virtually no flexure. With two speeds at hand, finding focus is quick and easy! First find rough focus with the large knob, then fine-tune with the smaller, micro-focusing knob. A tension knob is also included for further precision, and the locking knob holds your focus in place. Returning to a previous focusing position along the 2” of focusing travel is effortless thanks to the integrated focus scale, and an included 35 mm 2” extension tube helps you achieve the correct backspacing required for your specific imaging set-up. If you need a different size of extension tube, be sure to check out the selection of extension tubes we carry here at High Point. Also included are 3.3" to 2" and 2” to 1.25" compression ring adapters.

Tons of Inclusions
In addition to the focuser adapters mentioned above, this Apertura 10” Newtonian comes with even more accessories to help elevate your experience! Securing your OTA in place is a pair of felt-lined tube rings. These rings attach to the included Vixen-style dovetail plate, though can be used with user-supplied Losmandy-style dovetail plates as well. Atop this OTA is a finder bracket for use with the included 8x50 straight-through finderscope. This accessory makes it easy to quickly locate your targets for a more streamlined viewing experience! For the best performance possible, it’s necessary to allow your telescope to cool to ambient temperature in order to avoid air currents within the optical tube. Speeding up this process is a built-in cooling fan! This low-vibration fan is mounted on the primary mirror cell and is powered by eight AA batteries (not included). Thanks to Apertura, you’re set up for success.
