In order to use the Apertura collimation knobs, you will need to remove the factory-supplied screws one at a time, using the included 2mm hex key. Then replace it with the Apertura collimation knob before moving on to the next screw. This will help ensure that after the installation procedure, the collimation is as close as possible. Collimation is the alignment of the optics or the process of achieving alignment of the optics inside the telescope. The better the alignment of the optics, the higher level of performance your telescope will provide, ultimately resulting in a more uniform view. The Apertura CCE was designed with Celestron Newtonian reflectors, like the Celestron 130SLT and Starsense Explorer 130DX, in mind. In the design process, Apertura wanted a large reflecting surface to give the brightest illumination to the crosshairs and provide a night bright circle of the highest precision possible. Collimation Knobs for Celestron Newtonian OTAs
These Apertura collimation knobs are the perfect solution for a quick adjustment during observations or more specific collimation for imaging. With these collimation knobs, you will no longer have to worry about bothersome adjustments using the factory-supplied hex screws. Apertura has designed the three collimation knobs from solid steel for sturdy, tool-free adjustments.
Large Aperture End with Stainless Steel Crosshairs
On the end of the Apertura CCE, there is an oversized large diameter, with a large area reflector (1.125"). The crosshairs are made of bright, large-diameter stainless steel wires. These wires are superior to the commonly used copper wires, as they are more robust and shine brighter due to their thicker size. You will not have to worry about the crosshairs bending with the premium Apertura collimating eyepiece! The stainless steel crosshairs are also bright and easy to see. They are less prone to corrosion, allowing you to use your collimating eyepiece longer. The crosshair cartridge can be removed from the main housing for cleaning or replacement if needed.
Long Tube
Apertura designed this collimating eyepiece with a long tube in order to provide you with greater accuracy potential. This potential is available due to the separation of the crosshairs from the eyepiece's viewing hole. The stop collar is far back on the Cheshire eyepiece, allowing the tube to be inserted deep into the focuser, and providing the best of both worlds when it comes to collimation eyepieces: The long distance between the eyepiece and crosshairs and the ability to have the view port close to the top of the focuser. These two performance capabilities mean you can have a better alignment and fill view when aligning the secondary mirror. Rest assured this collimation eyepiece will last you years to come with its high-quality black anodized machined aluminum housing.
