Over 5-inches of Aperture
As the model with the largest and fastest optics within the Celestron NexStar SLT series, this telescope will easily provide bright, detailed views within your eyepiece. The sizable 5.1” (130 mm) aperture collects plenty of light and the 650 focal length is ideal for viewing a wide variety of celestial sights, such as stars, planets, nebulae, and more! Marvel at the sight of the mountains and craters on the Moon, view Venus and its many phases, Jupiter and its Galilean Moons, and the beauty of Saturn’s rings.

Robust Single Fork Arm Mount
This computerized telescopes comes with a powerful alt-azimuth single fork arm mount that provides accurate locating and tracking. Alignment is quick and painless thanks to the SkyAlign technology from Celestron. Simply point your telescope at three bright objects (stars, bright planets, or even the Moon) and this software will generate an internal map of the night sky. Once aligned, you’re ready to automatically slew to a whopping 40,000+ objects with the extensive NexStar+ database! Just 8 AA batteries supply enough power to the high precision DC servo motors within this mount for smooth, accurate tracking. A preassembled tripod comes standard within this package, and includes adjustable legs for easy leveling.

Various Control Options
The Celestron NexStar SLT 130 can be operated numerous ways. For one, the included hand controller allows you to star align, select objects to view, change slew speeds, and perform more operations. On the hand controller itself, you’ll find an RS-232 port. This port allows you to connect your PC for control of your Celestron NexStar 130 SLT with the Celestron CPWI software or other popular astronomy software programs. If you’d like to make things much easier and utilize your smartphone or tablet, you can add the powerful Celestron SkyPortal WiFi Module (sold separately) to do just this! Simply plug it into the auxiliary port and will be able to operate this computerized telescope with the SkyPortal app.

Included Accessories
To get you observing in no time, Celestron has included numerous accessories within this package. The 1.25” 25 mm eyepiece provides 26x magnification for views of the core of the Andromeda Galaxy, the Pleiades Open Star Cluster, and plenty more! If you want a closer look at the cosmos, the included 1.25” 10 mm eyepiece offers 72x magnification which is perfect for sights of the Orion Nebula, the full disk of the Moon, as well as globular star clusters like Messier 13. The focuser on this optical assembly accepts both 2” and 1.25” eyepieces thanks to the included 1.25” eyepiece adapter. This means you can use just about any eyepiece on the market today! Finally, the StarPointer™ red dot finderscope helps you quickly center objects within your eyepiece to make star alignment effortless.

About the Apertura Power Supply
The Apertura Portable Telescope Power supply uses lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 155Wh to provide power to various observation accessories. Weighing in at about 3.5 lb., this power supply is extremely lightweight and easy to take on the road so you can observe the night sky anywhere without worrying about finding an external power source. The body of the Apertura power tank comes with both LED status indicators and an LED red-light flashlight. The flashlight has standard and strobe-light settings. The Apertura portable power supply has many fantastic features that set it apart from the competition. Not only is this supply easy to use, but it comes with three additional power adapters, dual mode charging, and several ports that will make connecting your astronomy gear a breeze!

Celestron 1.25" Eyepiece and Filter Kit
The Celestron Plossl Eyepieces in this handy kit come with a 4 element design and have a 52 degree AFOV (32 mm has 44 degrees). The Celestron Plossl Eyepieces have superb color resolution, edge sharpness and clarity. All Celestron eyepieces in the Celestron Eyepiece and Filter Kit are fully-multicoated for maximum contrast and resolution. Supplied eyepieces are the 6 mm, 8 mm, 13 mm, 17 mm, and 32 mm focal length Plossl type. The 2x Barlow lens in the Celestron Eyepiece and Filter Kit compliments the Plossl eyepieces and gives you a total of ten power combinations. High grade glass optics with fully-multicoated lenses are used so there is no degradation of image. Included in this Celestron accessory kit are Kodak Wratten #12, #21, #25, #56, #58, and #80A filters. Since you have all the eyepieces necessary to study the planets and moon in detail, these filters will greatly enhance your enjoyment of our solar system. A neutral-density (ND) filter which allows you maximum enjoyment of the Moon, especially during its brighter phases. A sturdy and well-built case fits all of the above items in the die-cut foam interior and has room for additional accessories.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the NexStar 130 SLT come with a power cord?
The Nexstar 130 SLT does not include a power cord as it can run on batteries. Should you wish to use this with a wall plug power source, we suggest the Apertura Universal 2 AMP AC Adapter. Alternatively, should you wish to use a portable power tank instead of the power cord or batteries, the included Apertura Portable Telescope Power Supply will provide plenty of power for an entire night of viewing.

Can the NexStar 130 SLT be operated manually?
The NexStar 130 SLT is not designed for manual movement. If you want to use this telescope manually, you will need to attach it to a manual EQ or Alt-Az telescope mount.

Can this telescope be controlled remotely?
The telescope can be remotely controlled using the Celestron SkyPortal WiFi Module. However, viewing through the telescope remotely requires additional equipment.

Does this telescope require batteries?
The NexStar 130 SLT can be powered with 8 AA batteries (not included). It can also be powered with a 12V DC power cable (sold separately), such as the Apertura Universal 2 AMP AC Adapter.
