Check Out this Highly Portable Dobsonian Telescope From Sky-Watcher!

If you're looking for powerful telescope that will take your stargazing adventures further than ever before, a Sky-Watcher Flextube Dobsonian telescope is an excellent choice! Featuring large apertures and an enhanced rocker box style base, these light buckets offer exceptional views, ease-of-use, and countless hours of engaging explorations of the night sky!

Sky-Watcher’s Flextube Dobsonians are incredibly portable despite boasting massive apertures! Unlike a traditional truss tube telescope, these collapsible telescopes feature a highly convenient retractable truss rod system that allows the optical tube to quickly collapse down for transport and storage. Boasting 8-inches of aperture and a focal length of 1200 mm, this telescope is great for exploring the many beautiful objects that decorate our night sky, and the enhanced rocker box base with Sky-Watcher's signature Tension Control Handle makes slewing to different objects as easy as ever. This telescope includes a 2-inch Crayford-style focuser with 1.25-inch adapter that allows for use of nearly any eyepiece. Speaking of eyepieces, this telescope comes with two 1.25-inch eyepieces (12.5 mm & 20 mm), as well as a full-sized 8x50 finderscope!

Elevate Your Stargazing Experience

With a Sky-Watcher Dobsonian telescope, you’ll become more than an observer of the cosmos; you'll actively engage in locating objects and feel the thrill of discovery. Learn more about this telescope below!

8-inches of Aperture
The Flextube 200P features a large 8-inch aperture and Radiant™ Aluminum Quartz coated parabolic primary that provides a remarkable 94% reflectivity. With a fast f/5.9 focal ratio and 1200 mm focal length, this telescope is perfect for those who want to peer deep into the cosmos and explore faint deep sky objects. Thanks to the collapsible design, the large optical tube is easy to set up and transport to dark sky sites. Simply retract the truss rods and the 44-inch optical tube will collapse down to a mere 31.5-inches.

Smooth Rocker Box Base with Tension Control Handle
This Dobsonian telescope comes with an enhanced rocker box base that includes Sky-Watcher's signature Tension Control Handle! This innovative improvement on the classic design allows you to easily add or reduce tension with a simple twist of the handle. This means the optical tube doesn't need to be balanced in order to stay in position. The tension adjuster can be tightened such that the optical tube can stay in a position but can still be moved when prompted to adjust the position of the optical tube. Alternatively, the tension adjuster can be completely tightened to lock the optical tube in position.

Included Accessories
Setting you up for success, Sky-Watcher has included numerous accessories within this Flextube GoTo Dobsonian package. The two included Plössl eyepieces, 12.5 mm and 20 mm, provide views of the Moon, star clusters, the planets, and diffuse objects like nebulae and galaxies right out of the box! To make star alignment a breeze, Sky-Watcher even added a 8x50 finderscope.

Does this telescope need to be collimated?
Yes, the Sky-Watcher 200P is a reflector telescope that requires occasional maintenance, such as collimating the primary and secondary mirrors. The included manual provides step-by-step instructions for collimating your telescope. We recommend using a laser collimator, such as the Apertura 1.25" Laser Collimator, or a Cheshire collimation eyepiece, such as the Apertura Cheshire Collimation Eyepiece, as either of these accessories will make it much easier to align the optics on your Newtonian telescopes.

Can you take pictures with this telescope?
The Sky-Watcher 200P is a visual telescope that is designed to provide exceptional views. If you want to capture photos with this telescope, you can use an adapter, such as the Apertura Smartphone Astrophotography Adapter, to attach a smartphone to the focuser and capture images through the eyepiece. You can also attach a DSLR or mirrorless camera using a corresponding T-ring. If you want to learn more, check out our guide covering How to Connect a Camera to a Telescope.

The Sky-Watcher 200P includes a manual rocker box base that is 25-inches wide and 29-inches tall. The base weighs 26 pounds and requires assembly before use. Assembly instructions can be found in the included manual or on the manufacturer's website.
