Lunt has been designing quality solar scopes and eyepieces for years, and their experience shows in their products. Andy Lunt, the owner of Lunt Solar Systems, personally tests each product to assure the highest quality control standards. Moreover, all of their products are made right in the USA! Lunt purchases all of their raw glass materials from a company on the US east coast and then manufactures all Lunt solar equipment in Tucson, Arizona.

The Lunt Flat Field Eyepieces are a favorite among solar observers. These eyepieces feature the same 0.1% anti-reflective coatings as Lunt’s etalons and can be used for nighttime astronomy as well as daytime solar observing. These are also perfect to use when your local seeing conditions are poor or unstable. Each Lunt Flat Field eyepiece offers sweeping wide-field views of solar details when used with a solar scope.
While you may already know basic sun safety, it is important to only view the Sun through a solar eyepiece when coupled with a solar telescope, such as a Lunt H-Alpha Solar Telescope. Before viewing, always inspect your solar equipment and do not use it if there are any scratches or damages on the optics. When using a solar telescope, look into the scope while it is pointed away from the Sun. Then, while your eye is in the eyepiece, slowly point the solar telescope towards the Sun. Once the scope is focused properly, close your eyes before taking your eye out of the eyepiece and close your eyes before placing your eye in the eyepiece. We also recommend you use a shroud to protect your head, neck, and non-observing eye from the Sun’s rays.
